"I used to sit and wait for creativity to enter the room and grace me with her presence, my paintbrushes awaiting her arrival — once she did, it was go time. I would paint all night until I could no longer hold my eyes open, and then she was gone. I never know when that moment would happen again, so I had to take full advantage of the time. I would wake up the next day feeling a whirlwind of emotions. I sometimes wondered if other creative people felt that same way." — Kimberly Frost of @ripedesigns_ ∣ Winter 2023 Issue
"Ever since I was a little girl, I have felt a special connection to the magic of the natural world. I would spend hours making fairy houses out of flowers, twigs, and leaves, going on imaginative expeditions collecting any and all specimens I could find, trying to speak and make friends with the neighborhood squirrels and birds, and I always made time to make a wildflower bouquet. The natural world fueled my imagination and created the space for me to endlessly play out fantasies of fairies and magical creatures in the most whimsical and wonderful realms. My curiosity was continuously fed by its boundless wonders. I became fascinated about how and where animals built their homes, the what and why of all manner of birdsong, and how to identify local flora, fauna, and fungi. Nature has been and will continue to be a constant source of inspiration for me and my work." – Randi Lynn Reed of @randilynnreedillustration
